Stone Circle Terms & Conditions of Entry
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF STONE CIRCLE ACCESS - FOR CEREMONIES ONLY
English Heritage and the Gorsedd of Bards of Cor Gawr - Gorsedd Beirdd Côr y Cewri accept no liability for any injury to persons or damage to property arising in any way whatsoever whilst at Stonehenge and entry is at the risk of the applicant.
No person may touch, lean against, stand on, or climb on the stones, or disturb the ground in any way. No equipment can be attached to, leant on or supported by the stones. Boards must be provided for all equipment that is approved.
There must be no damage as a result of access. This includes ground penetration and wear and tear of the ground. Use of any oil based substances, incense, candles or naked flames is prohibited. The applicant will be required to pay reasonable costs of any damage caused.
No dogs are allowed beyond the main entrance point [except registered assistance dogs].
Stonehenge is not a licensed venue for wedding ceremonies.
The applicant or company representative/s must adhere to any instruction(s) given by English Heritage staff or their representatives regarding the use of the monument prior to and during access. The applicant will be required to pay the reasonable costs of any damage caused.
Eating, drinking or smoking is not permitted at any time inside the centre circle or anywhere in the Monument Field.
Please note that glass will not be allowed into the Monument Field as many people walk barefoot and, in addition, there are livestock and wildlife in the area.
No amplified music is permitted at Stonehenge or in the surrounding landscape. Acoustic instruments are normally permitted.
Any breach of these Terms and Conditions, especially climbing on the stones, will result in any individual or group being asked to leave the site.
English Heritage reserves the right to cancel any arranged visit at short notice and will not be held liable for any costs incurred.
INFORMATION ON FILMING/PHOTOGRAPHY FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES
English Heritage has a policy of charging for the use of Stonehenge for filming/ photography/videos and each application will be considered individually. All applications for media access should be made in advance. All detailed arrangements must be agreed in advance in respect of commercial filming/photography or use of any kind.
No use can be made of the English Heritage name or identifying mark without prior consent in writing.
NB While we know that the Gorsedd is a memorable occasion and those attending often wish to take photos to remember the event, please be aware that it is a ceremony of deep religious and spiritual significance for many; therefore any personal photography should be discrete, and respect the wishes of those attending who may not wish to be subject to photography, filming or video. Please note that, in addition, the Gorsedd does not, as a general rule, permit the filming, photography or videoing of the event other than for strictly personal use only. You should contact the Cor Gawr Organiser via the contact form if you wish to film, video or photograph the Gorsedd for any commercial or non-personal use.

The Gorsedd covers all its costs with the generosity of your donations, with the priests and organisers of the Gorsedd paying for all other expenses incurred not covered by those donations from their own pocket, as a service to the wider community.
